Welcome!
I got a book the other day from the library about women's suffrage in America. It was comprised entirely of letters written by women. It made me start thinking about a time when a letter was a major source of communication.
Skip backwards a couple weeks and I'm standing at a local archaeological dig with my son at a school field trip. The archaeologist was explaining that they use prime source documents to piece together stories behind what they find buried in the earth. What will they find of us? What will explain our artifacts?
Computer technology reinvents itself so quickly. Your computer is obsolete the moment you walk out the door of the store. Remember the 5 1/4" disks? 3 1/2"? Now we have CDs and our computers can't access 5 1/4" and unless your machine is really old, then it won't read 3 1/2" either.
Pen and paper will always be compatible with our eyes. Writing is personal. A handwritten letter has character and personality. A handwritten letter is always a joy to receive.
There are other heirloom written documents. Journaling has been known to ease restless minds. A handwritten journal can be soothing and personal and forever. Scrapbook journaling is another memoir that is personal and brings information to future generations when your not there to tell your story.
Archival writing is a great hobby. Linking Letters is devoted to writing that links people and eras. Welcome to my website and thank you for visiting.
